Medico-Legal experience

Dr Prashar is registered with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), the National Crime Agency (NCA) and the UK Register of Expert Witnesses. He is happy to be instructed by both Claimant and Defendant law firms in both personal injury and clinical negligence actions. Dr Prashar can usually turnaround reports within 6-8 weeks, sooner if required.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Dr Prashar has been a Consultant in Interventional Radiology at the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust since January 2021. Prior to this, he worked as a Locum Consultant at the Cambridge University Hospital and as a Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) Trainee Neuro Interventional Radiology Consultant at the Queens Hospital, Romford, to learn stroke thrombectomy.

Clinical Interests

Dr Prashar has clinical interests in the management of aortic and peripheral arterial diseases and liver and kidney interventions, including cancer treatment.

Research Interests

Dr Prashar’s research interests fall within the area of interventional and general radiology and quality improvement projects.

Management Experience

Dr Prashar was the Radiology Teaching Rota Organiser at NNUH from 2015 to 2016. In addition to this he was Lead Registrar from May 2017 to August 2017. Dr Prashar was also involved in the Leadership and Improvement Programme for Future Leaders from January 2018 to August 2018. Most recently he was involved with the Kent Clinical Development Programme from August 2021 to June 2022.

Summary of Publications

Dr Prashar has published on a number of topics, such as the research surrounding morphological variation of left atrial appendage on imaging, the need for laboratory testing a positive dip in haematuria patients before flexible cystoscopy, carbon dioxide retention in laparoscopic total extra-peritoneal hernia repair, lipid induced acute lung injury and severe rhabdomyolysis secondary to cholesterol embolic syndrome following failed angioplasty, and fatal cerebral thrombosis due to heparin induced thrombocytopenia not countered with anticoagulation switch. He has also published peer-review publications on informed consent in interventional radiology, assessment of endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) complications using the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) Complication Classification System, the diagnosis of thoracic outlet syndrome, sterile pyuria, a case report on metastasis-induced pancreatitis, and changes in UK medical law and the implications for radiologists.

Teaching & Training

Since 2014, Dr Prashar has contributed to teaching within a variety of areas such as, understanding abdominal radiographs and ultrasounds, lung diseases, mediastinal tumours, surgical radiology, brain tumours, acute hip problems in children, lung cancer, and MSK radiology. In addition to this, he has been a Quality Improvement Projects Clinical Supervisor of medical students at the Kings College London between September 2021 and March 2022. Currently, Dr Prashar is Educational and Clinical Supervisor of Radiology Training at the East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust and has been since December 2021.
