Overview

Medico-Legal experience

Dr Eaton is registered with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), the National Crime Agency (NCA), and the UK Register of Expert Witnesses. He is happy to be instructed by both Claimant and Defendant law firms in personal injury and clinical negligence actions. Dr Eaton holds weekly medico-legal clinics in Manchester but is happy to travel in order to conduct home and prison visits. He can usually turnaround reports within 6-8 weeks, sooner if required.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Dr Eaton has been a GP Partner in Greater Manchester since 2007 having undertaken his GP training in Glasgow, which incorporated posts in medicine of the elderly, obstetrics & gynaecology, adult psychiatry, and accident and emergency.

Owing to a special interest in sexual and reproductive health, Dr Eaton qualified to undertake vasectomies under local anaesthesia in 2013 and his practice scores well in peer review.

As a GP, Dr Eaton frequently diagnoses and manages matters including, but not limited to, infections, injuries, hypertension, ischaemic heart disease, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, cerebrovascular disease, dementia, depression, schizophrenia, drug and alcohol misuse, asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

A substantial part of his daily work involves proactive and preventative care and the holistic management of patients from birth until end-of-life. Dr Eaton undertakes weekly reviews of nursing home residents. Dr Eaton is a COVID-19 Emergency Registered Practitioner, managing first contact with individuals with potential COVID-19 symptoms.

Clinical Interests

Dr Eaton has a special interest in sexual and reproductive health, including the provision of vasectomies, and subdermal and intrauterine contraceptive procedures.

Dr Eaton holds diplomas with the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologist (RCOG) and the Faculty of Reproductive & Sexual Health. Dr Eaton is currently working towards completing the MSc in Clinical Practice, Education & Management and the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) Diploma Level 5.

Management Experience

Dr Eaton was involved in the development of Viaduct Health and Viaduct Care, the Stockport GP Federations. Since then, he has assisted in the development of corporate and financial governance, and has represented the Federation in negotiations with stakeholders, pushing forward the Stockport Together agenda whilst ensuring GP interests were prioritised. He was involved in the development of the seven-day access to routine Primary Care and currently represents his Practice in the local Primary Care Network and is the Clinical Lead for managing the COVID-19 vaccination programme. As a GP Partner, Dr Eaton has daily management duties and is involved in dealing with complaints, workforce issues and practice development. He leads on continuing professional development, team meetings and information technology. He is the appointed Caldicott Guardian and Information Governance Lead.

Teaching & Training

Dr Eaton has significant experience as a GP Trainer, with an impressive track record particularly in coaching trainees with difficulty. As a result, Health Education England have appointed him as a Lead Educator which involves duties such as training and assessing future GP Trainers and reaccrediting current GP Trainers. He acts as a mentor for other clinicians including GP Fellows, Advanced Care Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Pharmacists, Non-medical Practitioners, and Healthcare Assistants. He is the Practice lead for training undergraduate medical students. Dr Eaton is also the Salford & Trafford GP Training Programme Director, providing quality assurance and budget control, organising training programmes and allocations, and providing pastoral support for trainers and trainees.
