Overview

Clinical Practice & Experience

Mr Manu Patel trained in both dentistry and medicine at the Liverpool University, qualifying with both undergraduate degrees. He completed a range of training posts, including general surgery, plastic surgery and maxillofacial surgery and eventually completed his higher surgical training within the Liverpool Head and Neck Unit. Following this, Mr Patel has been a Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust since August 1995 where he enjoys a busy practice.

Clinical Interests

Mr Patel covers a full range of oral and maxillofacial surgery treatments; however, his special interests lie in head and neck cancer and salivary gland pathology. He has a busy clinical practice with weekly sessions at Wythenshawe, Christie, and Stepping Hill hospitals. Mr Patel also has further interests in reconstructive facial surgery, salivary gland surgery, facial deformity, oral surgery, oral lesions, facial pain, and dental implants.

Research Interests

Mr Patel has attended and presented in a vast array of meetings since 1993, both nationally and internationally. He also regularly presents and teaches local dentists, doctors and medical students. He has particular research interests in the oncology database, as well as patient focused outcomes. Previously, Mr Patel has been instructed by hospital trusts to examine and review specialist services within major hospitals when major and serious events occur in departments that cause potential harm to patient care.
