Medico-Legal experience

Ms Myriokefalitaki is a GMC medical expert since 2019. She has undergone patient safety incident investigation (PSII) training, managing and investigating incidences, complaints and overall patients’ care. She is happy to be instructed by both Claimant and Defendant law firms in both personal injury and clinical negligence cases.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Miss Myriokefalitaki completed Obstetrics and Gynaecology training in 2011 and accredited gynaecological subspecialty fellowship at University Hospitals of Leicester in December 2015. Since February 2016, she has practised as a Consultant in Gynaecological Oncology surgery at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust where her clinical duties include the management of patients with all forms of gynaecological cancer and pre-cancer conditions, weekly cancer Clinic and advice for patients undergoing surgery and oncological treatments, participating and chairing oncology MDTs.

Clinical Interests

Miss Myriokefalitaki is a consultant in gynaecology with subspecialty in Gynaecological Oncology. Her clinical expertise covering a wide range of surgical and non-surgical management of gynaecological conditions related to cancer and pre-cancer conditions. She is experienced in open / abdominal surgery and minimal access / laparoscopic surgery. She is a proctor, training and mentoring surgeons in robotic surgery.

Research Interests

Miss Myriokefalitaki attained her MSc in endometrial cancer research in 2012 from the University of Athens and her post grad Diploma in Minimal Access surgery by the CICE in Clermont-Ferrand in 2014. Her active research interests include all aspects of gynaecological cancer including post operative enhanced recovery, complications, mortality and morbidity, prognosis, outcomes and survival.

Management Experience

Miss Myriokefalitaki is the Clinical Director of Surgery at The Christie NHS FT since 2021, having had previously led the Gynaecological Oncology services. She is the chair of the Gynaecological Oncology MDT and she has a wide experience in managing patients, gynaecological and surgical services. Miss Myriokefalitaki is a medical appraiser since 2018.

Summary of Publications

Miss Myriokefalitaki has more than 20 publications and more than 450 citations in peer-reviewed journals in the field of gynaecological oncology. She has participated and presented in multiple national and international conferences and meetings over the years. She has been active with publications in gynaecological, surgical oncology, colposcopy, enhanced recovery and Cochrane review in Hormone replacement therapy for ovarian cancer patients.

Teaching & Training

Miss Myriokefalitaki demonstrates a comprehensive and multifaceted commitment to education and training within the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Beyond actively teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students, she holds key positions contributing to national standards and skill development. This includes roles as a board member of the ESGO exam committee, senior editor for Macmillan UK, and current North-West representative (and former member) of the BGCS training committee. She further contributes as an Honorary Lecturer at Edge Hill University and a Proctor in Gynaecological Robotic surgery. Her dedication extends to direct supervision of medical student projects and formal programme oversight as an RCOG Gynae Onc subspec educational/training programme supervisor, alongside participation in national training recruitment, annual assessment of training progress, and subspecialty accreditation. This breadth of experience highlights her commitment to nurturing the next generation of medical professionals and maintaining high standards within the specialty.
