Clinical Practice & Experience

Mr Vivak Hansrani is a Consultant Vascular and Complex Aortic Surgeon at the University Hospitals of Liverpool NHS Foundation Trust, with his clinical practice based at Aintree Hospital and the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. He completed his clinical training in general and vascular surgery across the North West of England in 2023, and subsequently spent two years in Western Australia specialising in complex aortic and endovascular surgery.

Mr Hansrani has a strong portfolio of clinical research, with a particular interest in clinical trial development. He completed his PhD at the University of Manchester on pelvic venous incompetence in women.

Mr Hansrani’s NHS and private practice encompasses a broad range of vascular conditions, with a specialist interest in complex aortic surgery-including both aortic aneurysm and aortic dissection pathology. He is trained in both open and minimally invasive techniques, and regularly performs bypass surgery for limb preservation, endovascular revascularisation procedures, carotid surgery for stroke prevention, and varicose vein interventions.

Mr Hansrani has a strong academic background with extensive experience in clinical research. His doctoral research focused on pelvic vein incompetence, and he has since gone on to design and lead randomised controlled trials, observational studies, and meta-analyses in the field of vascular surgery. Mr Hansrani has presented his research at national and international conferences, further establishing his reputation within the vascular research community.
