Medico-Legal experience

Ms Whittaker is happy to be instructed by both Claimant and Defendant law firms in personal injury and clinical negligence actions.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Ms Whittaker qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1993. In 2007, Ms Whittaker graduated from Lancaster University with a BSc (Hons) Nurse Practitioner degree and following this completed a MSc in Advanced Practice Health and Social Care at Bolton University.

Ms Whittaker has worked extensively in Accident and Emergency Department as a staff nurse, Emergency Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Medical Practitioner. Ms Whittaker has worked in various organisations gaining valuable experience within her Nurse Practitioner roles becoming Clinical Nurse Lead at a large Urgent Treatment Centre from 2010 – 2012. She then became an Advanced Practitioner at the Accident and Emergency Department in the North West before commencing in her current position as Nurse Consultant in the Emergency Department where she is clinical lead for the advanced practice team and is also involved in the operation and management to support the Trust and improve quality whilst working clinically with both adults and paediatrics.

Clinical Interests

Ms Whittaker is passionate about Advanced Practice and has expertise in Emergency Nurse Practitioner skills, advanced practice in the Emergency Department and Primary Care.

Management Experience

Ms Whittaker is currently responsible for a large number of Emergency Nurse Practitioners along with the Urgent Treatment Centre.

Teaching & Training

Ms Whittaker is a teacher and author of Trust framework of competencies for emergency nurse practitioners. She also is a university speaker on nursing motivation into clinical practice. In previous roles Ms Whittaker has taught and supervised the ENP/ACP team.
