Overview

Medico-Legal experience

Dr Gladman also serves as a Specialist Applications Associate for the General Medical Council. In this medico‑legal role he evaluates applications for entry onto the specialist register in Allergy, producing detailed written reports that assess the suitability of candidates against GMC standards. Dr Gladman is happy to receive instructions from both Claimant and Defendant law firms in personal injury and clinical negligence cases.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Dr Gladman is a Consultant Allergist at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London, within the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. After graduating from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2017, he completed his core medical training in London before relocating to Southampton, a World Allergy Organisation Centre of Excellence, to undertake specialty training in Allergy and Clinical Immunology. While in Southampton he earned an MSc in Allergy with distinction from the University of Southampton, successfully passed the Royal College of Pathologists’ Allergy and Clinical Immunology Certificate Examination, and achieved the EAACI/UEMS Knowledge Examination in Allergology and Clinical Immunology, confirming his expertise at a European level.

Since joining the Chest and Allergy Clinic at St Mary’s Hospital, Dr Gladman has been a pivotal member of a tertiary NHS allergy service that provides comprehensive assessment and management of food and drug allergies, investigation of anaphylaxis, venom and aeroallergen immunotherapy, and multidisciplinary support for the full spectrum of allergic diseases. His day‑to‑day practice integrates detailed clinical histories, sophisticated diagnostic testing, and individualized treatment plans, ensuring that patients receive evidence‑based, patient‑centred care across both acute and chronic allergy pathways.

Clinical Interests

Dr Gladman’s clinical focus centres on drug allergy and peri‑operative anaphylaxis, areas in which he has both academic and practical expertise. His MSc thesis introduced a novel penicillin allergy testing protocol that was subsequently implemented at the Southampton allergy service, streamlining risk assessment and reducing unnecessary antibiotic avoidance.

At St Mary’s Hospital, he runs a dedicated drug allergy clinic, overseeing complex investigations such as low‑dose intravenous challenge testing to neuromuscular blocking agents and managing high‑risk peri‑operative patients. His interest in peri‑operative anaphylaxis has driven the development of multidisciplinary pathways that liaise closely with anesthetic teams, enabling rapid identification of causative agents and the implementation of preventive strategies for future surgeries.

Research Interests

Dr Gladman has been actively involved in several high‑profile clinical trials, including oral peanut and milk immunotherapy (NATASHA) and epicutaneous peanut immunotherapy (VITESSE). He has also contributed as a sub‑investigator to studies of novel therapies for hereditary angioedema (ApeX‑N, CHAPTER‑1, CHAPTER‑3). His primary research output focuses on drug allergy, exemplified by a 2025 publication on the safe investigation of suspected neuromuscular blocking drug allergy using low‑dose intravenous challenge protocols.

Management Experience

Within the Imperial College Allergy Department, Dr Gladman serves as the lead consultant for Patient‑Initiated Follow‑Up (PIFU), a service redesign that empowers patients to schedule their own appointments and reduces unnecessary face‑to‑face visits. He was instrumental in introducing and embedding PIFU into the department’s workflow, improving efficiency and patient satisfaction. In 2023 he completed the highly regarded Leadership Development Course delivered by Health Education England (HEE) Wessex, further honing his strategic and managerial capabilities.

Teaching & Training

A dedicated educator, Dr Gladman delivers lectures for the Food Allergy and Drug Allergy modules of the University of Southampton’s MSc Allergy programme. He organised and taught at national training days on food allergy in both 2024 and 2025, providing hands‑on workshops and case‑based learning for clinicians across the UK. In recognition of his adherence to the Professional Standards Framework for higher‑education teaching, he was awarded Associate Fellowship of AdvanceHE in 2024.
