Overview

Medico-Legal experience

Mr Tofighi is registered with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), the National Crime Agency (NCA), and the UK Register of Expert Witnesses. He is happy to be instructed by both Claimant and Defendant law firms in personal injury and clinical negligence actions. Mr Tofighi can usually turnaround reports within 6-8 weeks, sooner if required.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Mr Mehdi Tofighi has worked within trauma and orthopaedics for over 19 years, having had the opportunity to work with several limb reconstruction surgeons across the country, learning and developing from each. He has had two years’ experience at consultant level, a 13-month fellowship in limb reconstruction and foot and ankle, six months trauma fellowship, and six years’ experience of working in major trauma centres. This has provided Mr Tofighi with experience and expertise to deal with complex trauma and malunion/non-union. He has performed more than 150 circular frames in trauma and elective settings. Mr Tofighi has also completed a 36-month fellowship in arthroplasty and revision hip and knee surgery, as well as 12-month fellowship in knee surgery. Currently, Mr Tofighi is a Locum Consultant Limb Reconstruction and Foot & Ankle Surgeon at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Clinical Interests

Mr Tofighi’s interests lie in complex trauma and limb reconstruction, which were ignited after spending 13 months at the Leeds General Infirmary.

Research Interests

Mr Tofighi’s research interests lie in lower limb fractures and trauma.

Management Experience

Actively participating on bone infection and limb reconstruction MDT meeting, and all aspect of clinical governance.

Summary of Publications

Mr Tofighi has co-authored publications regarding tibial fractures, hip arthroplasty, femoral neck stress fractures, Gustilo-Anderson IIIB Fractures in the elderly, and surgical techniques for a firmly integrated broken intramedullary nail. He has also been a part of many research projects in relation to fractures, replacements, and arthroplasty.

Teaching & Training

Heavily involved in teaching of undergraduate and post graduate medical students of Manchester university.
