Clinical Practice & Experience

Mr Rehmatullah is a distinguished orthopaedic surgeon with a specialist interest in the management of knee conditions, ranging from sports knee injuries and ligament reconstruction to joint replacement, limb realignment and the treatment of knee arthritis. He combines advanced surgical practice with innovative biological treatments such as PRP, Arthrosamid and BMAC injections, offering a comprehensive approach to modern orthopaedic care.

Mr Rehmatullah has undertaken full Bond Solon Expert Witness training and is developing his medico-legal practice. He accepts instructions in both personal injury and clinical negligence matters and provides clear, balanced and authoritative reports for both Claimant and Defendant solicitors. His expertise spans the full spectrum of orthopaedic trauma and elective surgery, with a particular focus on complex knee pathology and lower limb injury.

In addition to his medico-legal work, Mr Rehmatullah serves as the Welsh National Clinical Lead for Knee Surgery, reflecting his leadership and national standing in the field. He is also a respected researcher and educator, with numerous publications in leading journals and regular contributions to national and international conferences.

Mr Rehmatullah is also the Official Knee Surgeon and Club Doctor for Warrington Town Football Club.

Clinical Interests

Mr Rehmatullah specialises in the comprehensive management of knee pathology. This includes all aspects of sports knee surgery, offering both non-surgical and surgical solutions for a wide range of athletic injuries. He has a dedicated interest in knee arthritis treatment, providing a full spectrum of care from conservative approaches to surgical interventions. A key focus is the utilisation of biologics for both knee injuries and osteoarthritis, including techniques such as PRP, Arthrosamid, and BMAC injections. Mr Rehmatullah maintains expertise in general orthopaedic trauma, with a particular focus on lower limb injuries surrounding the knee – an area of significant expertise.

Management Experience

Mr Rehmatullah demonstrates significant leadership and management experience alongside his clinical practice. He currently holds the position of Welsh National Clinical Lead for Knee Surgery, providing strategic direction and oversight for knee surgery across Wales. This role is underpinned by substantial management experience gained throughout his training, where he consistently sought and fulfilled opportunities to develop leadership and l skills, preparing him for this national role and demonstrating a commitment to improving orthopaedic care at a broader level.

Research Interests

Mr Rehmatullah’s research interests focus on optimising outcomes in knee surgery. He is actively involved in investigating biologics for knee injuries and exploring soft tissue knee advancements, with a commitment to contributing to the evidence base and improving patient care.

Mr Rehmatullah demonstrates a strong commitment to research and scholarly activity, evidenced by a substantial body of published work and numerous presentations. His research portfolio encompasses a wide range of orthopaedic topics, including knee osteoarthritis, patellofemoral instability, hip arthroplasty, and spinal surgery. He has published original research in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Experimental Orthopaedics and the Bone and Joint Journal, and presented his findings at numerous national and international conferences, including EFORT, BOA, and SICOT.

His research extends beyond traditional publications to include abstract and poster presentations, and a currently in-progress prospective cohort study investigating the impact of BMI. This breadth of scholarly activity highlights his dedication to advancing knowledge and improving clinical practice across the field of orthopaedic surgery, with a particular focus on evidence-based medicine and innovative techniques. Teaching & Training

Mr Rehmatullah is committed to the education and training of the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons. He actively contributes to postgraduate medical education as a faculty member on the Wrightington T&O FRCS Revision Course for consultants, sharing his expertise and knowledge in advanced orthopaedic techniques. Furthermore, he is a certified ATLS Instructor, demonstrating his commitment to providing essential trauma management skills and ensuring a high standard of emergency care. This involvement reflects his dedication to both specialist training and broader medical education.
