Expert Witness – Mr Rishee Parmar

Clinical Practice & Experience
After graduating from Manchester University Medical School in 2000, Mr Parmar gained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2010 and later joined the GMC Specialist Register in 2014. In June 2014 he gained his Medical Leadership in Practice Certificate, receiving a Distinction. Mr Parmar a Shoulder & Elbow Orthopaedic and Trauma Consultant at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a level one major trauma centre and tertiary referral centre for complex and revision cases. He has worked as a Consultant in Malawi so has knowledge of complex trauma in austere environments and regularly visited the Mayo Clinic in the US as well as other centres in Europe and the USA.
Clinical Interests
Mr Parmar regularly treats all trauma presentations but maintains subspeciality interests in shoulder & elbow trauma and elective conditions. Mr Parmar has a number of regular clinics covering the whole of the North West. He performs arthroscopy (keyhole surgery), arthroplasty (replacements) and revision shoulder arthroplasty of the shoulder and elbow.
Management Experience
Mr Parmar is the President of the NWULG, a trustee of two charities and the registrar lead in the orthopaedic department. He has been on the organising committee of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society. He is the Education Director of the Mersey Region Orthopaedic Registrars for Health Education North West.
Research Interests
Mr Parmar’s research interests are in the field of orthopaedic conditions specifically upper limb conditions. He is actively involved with a number of randomised controlled trials for NIHR and is a principal investor.
Summary of Publications
Mr Parmar has presented and published internationally on a variety of orthopaedic conditions with an interest in upper limb conditions. He has also written book chapters for an international book on upper limb trauma conditions in the austere environment.
Teaching & Training
Mr Parmar is an honorary lecturer at the University of Liverpool. He is a Specialist Training Representative for the trust in Orthopaedics and sits on the Annual Competency Assessment Panel for the trainees. He is the Education Director of the Mersey Region Orthopaedic Registrars for Health Education North West. He regularly teaches at international, national and local level.

Medico-Legal experience
Mr Parmar has completed the Bolon Solon Excellence in Report Writing course and has attended a seminar by Cobden House Chambers in Manchester on Expert Evidence. He is registered with APIL, National Crime Agency (NCA) and the UK Register of Expert Witnesses. He is happy to represent both Claimant and Defendant law firms in both personal injury and clinical negligence actions. Mr Parmar can usually turnaround reports within 6-8 weeks from appointment date, sooner if required.
