Overview

Medico-Legal experience

Dr Pattison has produced over 100 independent advisory and disclosable reports in claims and complaints processes. She has undergone training with Bond Solon in report writing, courtroom skills and civil law and procedure. She is currently working toward completion of the Cardiff University Bond Solon Expert Witness Certificate. Dr Pattison is happy to be instructed by Claimant and Defendant law firms in clinical negligence cases. Dr Pattison has not currently had to give evidence in court.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Dr Pattison graduated from Bristol University in 1994 with a BSc (Hons) in Pathology and later achieved her medical degree in 1997, where she was awarded an overall year prize in obstetrics and gynaecology. Dr Pattison completed her basic surgical training (including 9 months of breast surgery) and obtained her MRCS in 2002. Dr Pattison lectured in patient safety and human factors prior to commencing her radiology training in 2004. Dr Pattison completed her radiology subspeciality training in breast and gynaecological radiology at the University College London Hospital (UCLH) and the Northwick Park Hospital in 2014. She is a Consultant Breast and General Radiologist at the University College London Hospital since 2014.

Clinical Interests

Dr Pattison has interests in reporting general and oncological CT scans as well as acute inpatient CT scans and undertaking general abdominal ultrasound scans. In addition to her breast symptomatic work at the UCLH, Dr Pattison undertakes breast screening sessions at the North London Breast Screening Service (NLBSS). Dr Pattison’s breast work involves reporting mammograms, performing ultrasounds and core biopsies, stereotactic vacuum biopsies and excisions and MRI guided vacuum biopsies.

Research Interests

Dr Pattison has and continues to take part in several trials. Currently Dr Pattison in involved in the LORIS, BRAID, and the SMALL trial. Dr Pattison reports RECIST scans for several oncological trials.

Management Experience

Dr Pattison is the joint Quality and Safety Lead in Radiology, which includes performing investigations for internal serious incidents. Dr Pattison is also Joint Clinical Lead for the Breast Radiology Service and the UCLH radiology representative for the Breast Expert Reference Group (ERG) for the North Central Alliance.

Summary of Publications

Dr Pattison has co-written several publications including topics such as reducing human error in urology, imaging abnormalities of the female genital tract, and diagnosis of Mayer-Rokitansky-Kauster-Hauser Syndrome with MR imaging. She has also written book chapters on reducing medical errors in urology and imaging and assessment by MRI of the female pelvis.

Teaching & Training

Dr Pattison is both an educational and clinical supervisor to general radiology trainees and subspecialty breast radiology trainees.

Prizes and Awards

1997: Distinction and Green Armytage Prize (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) – Bristol University. Awarded for overall individual performance in Final MBChB examinations.

1997: Pathology Scholarship – Bristol University for BSc (Hons) degree. Awarded for performance in preclinical exams.

2003: London Modernisation Awards Finalist In category 6: improving working lives.

2018: Celebrating excellence award for breast team nomination.
