Mr Manias is happy to be instructed by Claimant and Defendant law firms in both personal injury and clinical negligence cases.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Mr Theo Manias attended the University of Cambridge between 1999-2004 and undertook his post-graduate training in obstetrics and gynaecology at the North-Western Deanery from 2007- 2013. He went on to undertake sub-specialism training in acute gynaecology and early pregnancy, advanced labour ward practice, benign abdominal surgery, and intermediate ultrasound in both gynaecology and early pregnancy. He later achieved his Bachelor in Gynaecological Endoscopy in 2016 at the European Academy of Gynaecological Surgery. Mr Manias has been a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) since 2015.

Clinical Interests

Mr Manias has interest in all areas of obstetrics and gynaecology, including complex obstetric surgery, pre-eclampsia, ectopic pregnancies, fibroids, ovarian cancer, endometriosis and sub-fertility.

Research Interests

Mr Manias is currently the Principal Investigator for the ROSSINI 2 Trial looking into the reduction of surgical site infection using several novel interventions with the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). He was also involved in the final year research project performed during the Part II NST Physiology Course with Cambridge University.

Management Experience

Mr Manias currently enjoys his role as the Lead for Complex Obstetric Surgery at the Wythenshawe Hospital and has been in this position since September 2018. Previous experience also includes: Deputy Clinical Head of the Gynaecology Division, MFT, 2019 – 2022; Clinical Lead for Benign Gynaecology, MFT, 2018 – 2019; Clinical Governance Lead for Gynaecology, MFT, 2017-2018; and Emergency Department ‘Champion’ for Emergency Gynaecology, MFT, 2016-2017.

Summary of Publications

Mr Manias has published and co-authored articles in a number of journals, covering subjects such as endometrial and ovarian cancer, the management of perimenopausal and abnormal uterine bleeding, atrial fibrillation in pregnancy, and the management of endometriosis related subfertility, to name a few. Mr Manias has also produced posters and presented nationally and internationally on multiple occasions over the past decade.

Teaching & Training

Mr Manias has a background of multiple educational roles, across formal education, course organisation and facilitation, and postgraduate teaching. He is currently Educational Supervisor for Speciality Trainee Registrars, Preceptor of Ultrasound Training in Early Pregnancy, and Clinical Supervisor for GP trainees placed in Obstetrics and Gynaecology; all within MFT. Mr Manias has also provided numerous lectures to trainees and registrars on subjects that include the management of non-tubal ectopic pregnancies, the management of fibroids, common gynaecological disorders, and the management of pre-eclampsia.
