Overview

Medico-Legal experience

Professor Augustine has undergone his expert witness training. He is registered with APIL, AvMA, National Crime Agency (NCA) and the UK Register of Expert Witnesses. Professor Augustine enjoys a full medico-legal practice representing both Claimant and Defendant law firms in actions relating to both personal injury and clinical negligence. He holds weekly medico-legal clinics in Manchester, but is happy to conduct home and prison visits. He can usually turnaround reports within 6-8 weeks, sooner if required.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Professor Titus Augustine has been a Consultant Transplant & Endocrine Surgeon for over 23-years. He leads one of the two UK referral centres encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis, which receives national and international referrals and until 2019, he was the Clinical Director of the Manchester Transplant Unit (the largest Kidney Transplant Unit in the United Kingdom). Professor Augustine was recently appointed as Manchester’s first Chair of Transplantation via the MAHSC Honorary Clinical Chair Scheme.

Clinical Interests

Professor Augustine has experience in thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and laparoscopic adrenalectomy. He also has extensive experience in kidney and pancreas transplantation, including living donor transplantation and laparoscopic donor nephrectomy and organ retrieval.

Research Interests

Professor Augustine has several research interests including microbiome and its interaction with transplantation, the circadian cycle and how it impacts transplantation, and technology & data.

Professor Augustine has been extensively published, with over 90 peer-reviewed publications covering kidney and pancreas transplantation, endocrine surgery & surgical innovation.

Professor Augustine is often invited to lecture nationally and internationally.
