Medico-Legal experience
Professor Augustine has undergone his expert witness training. He is registered with APIL, AvMA, National Crime Agency (NCA) and the UK Register of Expert Witnesses. Professor Augustine enjoys a full medico-legal practice representing both Claimant and Defendant law firms in actions relating to both personal injury and clinical negligence. He holds weekly medico-legal clinics in Manchester. He can usually turnaround reports within 6-8 weeks, sooner if required.
Clinical Practice & Experience
Professor Titus Augustine has been a Consultant Transplant & Endocrine Surgeon for over 23-years and was the Clinical Director of the Manchester Transplant unit for 10 years. The Manchester transplant unit is one of the largest kidney and pancreas transplant units in the UK. It is also one of the two UK referral centres for encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis and receives national and international referrals. Professor Augustine was appointed Manchester’s first Chair of Transplantation via the MAHSC Honorary Clinical Chair Scheme in 2018. He remains in full time clinical practice.
Clinical Interests
Professor Augustine has experience in thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and laparoscopic adrenalectomy including retroperitoneal adrenalectomy. He also has extensive experience in kidney and pancreas transplantation, including living donor transplantation and laparoscopic donor nephrectomy and organ retrieval. He has a special interest in surgery for encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis and receives national and international referrals for the condition.
Research Interests
Professor Augustine has several research interests including microbiome and its interaction with transplantation, the circadian cycle, and how it impacts transplantation and technology & data.
