Dr Bhojnagarwala is a highly experienced Consultant Neonatologist with over 12 years’ consultant-level practice in neonatal medicine and extensive expertise across neonatal intensive care, paediatric and neonatal cardiology, and neonatal haemodynamics. He currently serves as Consultant Neonatologist and Lead for Paediatric & Neonatal Cardiology at Medway NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr Bhojnagarwala qualified in 2000 and has undertaken comprehensive training across general paediatrics, community paediatrics, paediatric intensive care, neonatal intensive care and retrieval medicine. This breadth of experience provides him with a unique, whole-pathway understanding of care from birth through childhood, including the management of critically ill infants and complex congenital conditions.
He is European-certified in congenital heart disease echocardiography and has advanced expertise in integrated neonatal haemodynamics and Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS), including cardiac, lung and vascular imaging. His clinical practice focuses on physiology-guided care, enabling nuanced assessment and management of cardiorespiratory instability, congenital heart disease, respiratory failure and haemodynamic compromise in neonates.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Bhojnagarwala brings substantial medico-legal experience, providing expert opinions for both Claimant and Defendant law firms in personal injury and clinical negligence cases. He has chaired serious incident investigations, Perinatal Mortality Review Tool (PMRT) panels and Child Death Overview Panels, and has extensive experience in governance, patient safety and quality improvement. His expertise encompasses neonatal intensive care, paediatric cardiology, echocardiography, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, perinatal governance and standards of care in complex clinical environments.
Dr Bhojnagarwala is actively involved in research and education, serving as Clinical Academic Tutor at Kent & Medway Medical School and as an examiner for MRCPCH and RCPCH START examinations. He is a recognised national figure within paediatric cardiology and neonatal ultrasound, holding leadership roles with professional bodies including the Paediatricians with Expertise in Cardiology Special Interest Group (PECSIG) and NeoFOCUS-UK.
