McCollum Consultants Welcomes Dr Andrew Baxter

We are delighted to welcome Dr Andrew Baxter, Consultant Gastroenterologist, to the McCollum Consultants Network. Andrew brings a wealth of expertise in hepatobiliary and pancreatic disease, advanced therapeutic endoscopy, and general gastroenterology, underpinned by extensive clinical, research, and teaching experience.

Since 2021, Andrew has served as Consultant Gastroenterologist at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, one of the UK’s largest tertiary teaching centres. He is a highly skilled advanced endoscopist, performing complex procedures such as ERCP, diagnostic and therapeutic EUS, and luminal stenting, alongside managing acute gastrointestinal emergencies. He also co-leads multidisciplinary clinics for Chronic Pancreatitis and cystic fibrosis-related gastrointestinal and liver disease.

Andrew has an impressive record in clinical governance and service development, having held senior leadership roles including Deputy Head of Service – Endoscopy and Governance Lead for Gastroenterology. He has contributed significantly to pathway design, quality assurance, and service innovation, including rapid-response adaptations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

An active educator and researcher, Andrew is a fully accredited RCP and JAG trainer, mentoring residents, physician associates, and senior fellows. His research interests focus on the evolution of endoscopic technology, and he has published and presented widely on both clinical and service-development topics.
