Clinical Practice & Experience
Dr Kosmidis completed his specialty training in internal medicine at the University of Athens, Greece in 2006 and in infectious diseases at the Wayne State University, Detroit, USA in 2010. He has worked in Microbiology and infectiousDiseases posts at Sat George’s University Foundation Trust and Cambridge University Hospitals Foundation Trust. Since2014, he has practised as a Consultant in Infectious Diseases at the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust where his clinical duties include the management of patients with all forms of infection, a weekly fungal infection Clinic, and infection advice for patients undergoing transplantation. Dr Kosmidis sees patients with various manifestations of infection such as sepsis, tuberculosis, non-tuberculous mycobacterial disease, travel related infection or fever of unknown origin, during inpatient ward rounds or in weekly outpatient clinics.
Clinical Interests
Dr Kosmidis is Clinical Director of the National Aspergillosis Centre, hosted in the Manchester University NHS FoundationTrust. Dr Kosmidis sees a large number of patients with all manifestations of the fungal infection aspergillosis (invasive aspergillosis, chronic pulmonary aspergillosis, allergic aspergillosis) in weekly outpatient clinics and inpatient ward rounds. He regularly provides advice nationwide to clinicians referring patients to the National Aspergillosis Centre. He also regularly sees patients undergoing transplantation who present with infection issues and has a clinical interest in all forms of pulmonary infection such as mycobacterial disease.
