Clinical Practice & Experience
Daniel Jones brings two decades of pharmacy experience, encompassing ten years of pre‑registration work in community settings and nine years of post‑registration practice across secondary care, academia and project management. In community pharmacy, his career progressed from dispenser to store supervisor and manager, giving him a thorough understanding of both pharmacist and non‑pharmacist responsibilities. His secondary‑care career began as a rotational pharmacist at East Cheshire NHS Trust, where he delivered pharmaceutical care across a broad spectrum of specialties including medicine, surgery, cardiology, gastro‑enterology, respiratory, frailty and oncology in both inpatient and outpatient environments. Advancing to senior roles, Mr Jones led the trust’s multidisciplinary frailty team, focusing on deprescribing and falls prevention while navigating the interface between health and social care, and later directed the respiratory directorate, overseeing budget, staffing, policy development and rapid COVID‑19 guideline creation.
As a Clinical Tutor at Manchester Foundation Trust’s Oxford Road Campus, he held an honorary University of Manchester contract, redesigning MPharm modules to reflect current evidence, incorporating inclusive curriculum elements and supervising student prescribing. He then chaired a trust‑wide project to implement the new GPhC standards, forging partnerships with community pharmacies, general practice, intermediate‑care providers and the pharmaceutical industry, and establishing cross‑site timetables, guidance and supervision frameworks. Currently, Mr Jones works as a locum pharmacist in various community pharmacies, staying current with services such as Pharmacy‑First, hypertension case‑finding, DMS, NMS, minor‑ailment referrals, emergency hormonal contraception and contraception provision, while routinely dispensing and performing accuracy checks across multiple PMR systems.
