Overview

Medico-Legal experience

Mr Stott is registered with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), the National Crime Agency (NCA), and the UK Register of Expert Witnesses. Mr Stott is happy to be instructed by both Claimant and Defendant law firms in personal injury and clinical negligence cases. He can usually turnaround reports within 6-8 weeks, or sooner if required.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Mr Stott graduated from St George’s, University of London in 2009 and completed his foundation programme in the SouthThames Deanery, rotating through Medway Maritime Hospital and Kingston Hospital. He began specialty training in obstetrics and gynaecology in 2011 within the London Deanery, gaining experience in high‑volume tertiary centres such as University College London Hospital (UCLH), King’s College Hospital, and the Royal London Hospital.

In 2020, Mr Stott successfully finished subspecialty training in maternal‑fetal medicine at UCLH and was subsequently appointedConsultant in Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine at the same institution. He also holds the title of Honorary AssociateProfessor at University College London, where he contributes to teaching, research, and the supervision of postgraduate trainees. Before embarking on his medical career, Mr Stott enjoyed a distinguished tenure as a journalist and national news reporter. His background in communication enhances his patient‑centred approach and his ability to disseminate complex clinical information to both professional and public audiences.

Clinical Interests

Mr Stott’s clinical interests and expertise is in obstetrics, intrapartum care and maternal and fetal medicine.

Research Interests

Mr Stott has published an MD research thesis on maternal hemodynamics in pregnancies complicated by hypertension. He completed his MD at the King’s College London University in 2019, under the supervision of Professor Nicolaides (Professor of Fetal Medicine). He has active research interests in fetal and maternal medicine and has published numerous research papers in the area of pre-eclampsia. He has recently published on ultrasound findings in pregnancies complicated by trisomy 21, and he is the principal investigator for two ongoing national trials in hypertensive pregnancies.

Management Experience

At UCLH, Mr Stott is the Trust’s Lead for fetal monitoring and has successfully established a new specialist clinic for the care of women with hypertension and pre-eclampsia in pregnancy. He also leads fetal medicine clinics at UCLH and at the Barnet Hospital, where he is the Fetal Medicine Lead. He is regularly involved in governance and critical-incident reviews for the Trust and across the North-Central London maternity network. He regularly leads governance review process at UCLH, and he has coordinated, as a Principal Investigator, several ongoing research trials at the Trust.

Summary of Publications

Mr Stott has published extensively in high-impact peer-reviewed journals on hypertensive disorders in pregnancy and on fetal-medicine topics. He has completed an MD research thesis on maternal haemodynamics in pregnancies complicated by hypertension. Mr Stott has recently been appointed as Associate Editor (maternal and fetal medicine) for The Obstetrician and Gynaecologist (TOG).

Teaching & Training

Since March 2021, Dr Stott has served as an Honorary Lecturer at University College London, where he delivers lectures and chairs tutorials for postgraduate MSc programmes on prenatal diagnosis, screening and fetal organogenesis. He also runs regular Trust‑wide and network‑wide teaching sessions on intrapartum care and fetal monitoring for midwive sand doctors, acts as an accredited Educational Supervisor for junior doctors, and sits on the teaching faculty for theRoyal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists’ international ROBUST course on operative birth. In addition, Dr Stott is the Social Media Editor for the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, coordinating the journal’s digital content and conducting themed podcasts with leading academics, and serves as Associate Editor for Maternal and Fetal Medicine at The Obstetrician and Gynaecologist (TOG). He is also the regional obstetric lead for the ABC programme - a national RCOG‑NHS England training initiative aimed at improving obstetric outcomes. At present, Mr Stott is the social media editor for the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, where he coordinates content for the journal across different social media platforms, and interviews leading academics in the speciality for themed podcasts.
