Medico-Legal experience

Mr Yates has been acting as an expert witness for over 10 years and produced over 4000 reports. Mr Yates has undergone expert witness training and enjoys receiving instructions from both Claimant and Defendant law firms in personal injury and clinical negligence cases.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Mr Edward Yates is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Cheshire and Manchester at The Highfield Hospital and HCA The Wilmslow Hospital. Mr Yates practises in the NHS at Stepping Hill Hospital where he specialises in conditions of the Hip. He studied Medicine at the University of Aberdeen, before moving back to the North West of England upon qualification. He underwent specialist Orthopaedic training and has a strong interest in research and training. He has also undertaken several visits to international centres, and regularly attends national and international conferences focusing on advances in hip surgery, as well as patient safety and enhanced recovery. Mr Yates has been invited to lecture at both regional and international meetings and is a member of the National Orthopaedic Data Evaluation Panel, where he is involved in the assessment and scrutiny of hip and knee prostheses.

Mr Yates specialises in all lower limb trauma including hip fractures, femoral fractures and peri-prosthetic fractures, hip arthroplasty (total hip replacement) and revision hip surgery.

Management Experience

Mr Yates currently sits on the National Orthopaedic Data Evaluation Panel and is the procurement lead at Stepping Hill Hospital.

Summary of Publications

Mr Yates has published and co-authored multiple papers and case reports. Examples include: European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology. Ligament tissue engineering and its potential role in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. The effect of a knee brace on hip flexion and adduction.

Teaching & Training

Mr Yates is involved in teaching and training both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He does advanced teaching to Orthopaedic Registars during their Hip module. He also helps prepare trainees for the MRCS and FRCS examinations. Mr Yates has also been invited to provide lectures to sixth form students where he attended School.
