Natalie is happy to be instructed by both Claimant and Defendant law firms in personal injury and clinical negligence actions.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Natalie qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 2008, following which she enhanced her Diploma qualification to a BSc (Hons) within Nursing Practice in 2014, both of which were studied at the University of Manchester.

Natalie worked in general medicine and complex care as a staff nurse, promoted to sister and then acting ward manager at the University hospital of South Manchester between 2008-2013. From here on, Natalie worked as a sister in specialist hematology and transplant within Central Manchester Foundation Trust from 2013-2016. Natalie moved into a Clinical Skills role at 5 Boroughs Partnership in 2016 and in 2017 Natalie obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Dundee to support her role.  Later Natalie was seconded to Clinical Skills Co-Ordinator within the same orgnaisation following its acquisition of services to become North West Boroughs Partnership in 2018, and in 2019 Natalie completed a Level 7 Clinical Examination Skills module. Natalie was then promoted to Operational Manager of community nursing teams in the same year.

Natalie then took a 12-month career break in 2020, working in New South Wales and the Sydney Local Health District as a registered nurse at a local hospital and a school nurse for a local private high school.

On return to the UK and North West Boroughs Natalie took a secondment to a Quality Matron role in 2021 within the inpatient mental health service line of Mersey Care having acquired North West Boroughs. From here Natalie was successful in obtaining a permanent position as Modern Matron – Physical Health in 2021 for the inpatient mental health care division within the organization, where she now works. Since employment within this role Natalie has completed an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice and an Apprenticeship in Advanced Clinical practice and obtained her Non-Medical Prescribing qualification, finishing in 2024 from the University of Liverpool, supporting her role within nursing management, clinical leadership, research and education along with offering robust clinical practice.

Clinical Interests

Natalie has developed a strong professional interest in leadership and management within nursing and multidisciplinary teams. Recognised as an insightful and supportive leader, Natalie demonstrates a deep understanding of service and team needs, consistently providing tailored support to enhance performance and care delivery. With a particular passion for training and education, Natalie is actively involved in the development of both staff and patients, especially in the areas of physical health management and chronic disease care. Acting as a subject matter expert in physical health within mental health settings, Natalie plays a key role in the care management of service users with complex needs.

Natalie has a strong interest in incident management, staff support, and change management processes, contributing to continuous improvement and a culture of learning and to support this Natalie has worked in the development of medicolegal cases through private means, recently completing a medicolegal assistant and PA skills course to better understand the processed involved.

A significant area of Natalie’s practice has been the advancement of physical health care within mental health services—an area historically under-recognised. Their efforts to raise awareness, improve standards, and advocate for integrated care have been both professionally rewarding and instrumental in enhancing patient outcomes. This work has also deepened Natalie’s understanding of the mental health needs of individuals with severe physical health conditions, enriching their holistic approach to care.

Management Experience

Natalie is an experienced senior nurse responsible for teams directly and for wider Physical health management across 26 wards within the organisation in which she works. Natalie has a strong background in clinical governance, incident management, and workforce leadership though her current and previous roles.Up to and including Natalies role as an 8a Natalie has led on complaint resolution from ward-level concerns to board-level investigations, ensuring timely, compassionate, and effective responses that drive service improvement.A subject matter expert in physical health within mental health services, Natalie reviews All related incidents across the division, conducts root cause analyses, and contributes to patient safety panels. Their expertise is frequently sought for formal reviews following serious incidents and patient deaths, supporting a just and learning culture.Natalie is actively involved in multiple clinical governance groups, including those focused on nutrition, choking, care planning, NICE guidance, end-of-life care, pressure ulcer prevention, insulin safety, and electronic prescribing. They also contribute to weekly medication safety reviews and support the development of action plans for continuous improvement.In addition to clinical leadership, Natalie has extensive experience in recruitment, sickness and absence management, staff appraisals, and workforce planning. Natalie has successfully led skill mix reviews and workforce assessments to ensure safe and effective staffing across services.

Teaching & Training

Throughout Natalies career, from Band 6 to Modern Matron, Natalie has led training initiatives across inpatient and community settings, supporting staff in clinical skills, physical health management, and mandatory training compliance. Natalie designed and delivered tailored education programmes, including ward-based sessions and monthly inductions for over 50 new starters, enhancing physical health awareness in mental health services building on her skills within training and utilising her post graduate certificate in medical education.In 2016 as the Clinical Skills Trainer and Care Certificate Lead, Natalie developed and implemented trust-wide training strategies, created job plans, and led needs assessments to improve staff retention and performance. They also played a key role in the rollout of NEWS2 and sepsis training, and later led the implementation of electronic NEWS2 monitoring across inpatient mental health wards.Natalie remains current and continues to drive best practice through participation in task and finish groups, supporting the integration of NICE guidance, end-of-life care, insulin safety, and electronic prescribing into clinical practice.
