Medico-Legal Experience
Dr Desai enjoys a full medico-legal practice instructed by both Claimant and Defendant law firms in personal injury and clinical negligence cases. Dr Desai has attended expert witness training.
Clinical Practice & Experience
Dr Desai has been a substantive Consultant in Anaesthesia and Chronic pain Medicine since 2018. He is currently at the Wythenshawe Hospital, part of the University of Manchester NHS Foundation Trust. Dr Desai’s previous appointments include: Speciality Training Rotation in Anaesthesia, ICU, and Pain Medicine at the Yorkshire and The Humber Deanery between 2012-2018; completing his post CCT Neuromodulation Fellowship at the James Cook University Hospitals between 2018-2019; to then becoming a Locum Consultant in Anaesthesia & Pain Medicine at the same hospital in 2019.
Clinical Interests
Dr Desai has a special interest in chronic pain, acute pain, general and regional anaesthesia, He has a particular clinical interest in CRPS, post-surgical pain, neuropathic pain, opioid medication management.
Research Interests
Dr Desai’s research focuses on pain treatment for conditions such as cancer, neuropathic pain, and foot pain due to diabetes.
Summary of Publications
Dr Desai has been involved in research projects during his post CCT fellowship in Chronic Pain at the James Cook Hospital, Middlesbrough. He has produced publications, poster presentations, and research trial participations including trials for severe foot pain due to diabetes and cancer pain.
