Overview

Medico-Legal experience

Mr Nesbitt is happy to be instructed by both Claimant and Defendant law firms in personal injury and clinical negligence cases.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Mr Nesbitt began his medical career in 2010, after graduating from the University of Manchester with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery. He went on to achieve a Diploma of Head and Neck Surgery in 2012, and later his Postgraduate Diploma in Trauma and Orthopeadics in 2014. Mr Nesbitt then attained a national training number in trauma and orthopaedcis in 2015. He completed his FRCS examination in 2021 and his certificate of completion of training in February 2022. After completion of training Mr Nesbitt took up the Smith & Nephew Fellowship at Leeds General Infirmary developing skills in complex trauma, Limb reconstruction, bone infection and deformity correction before taking up his current post as Consultant Trauma and Limb Reconstruction Specialist at Manchester Royal infirmary in 2023.

Clinical Interests

Mr Nesbitt’s main focus is on limb reconstruction after severe traumatic injuries, Orthoplastics reconstruction, bone infection and deformity correction as a result of trauma or congenital disease in adults.

Research Interests

Currently, Mr Nesbitt is a reviewer for the journal Strategies in Trauma and Limb Reconstruction. He is also an active contributor to the large trials within his unit as a GCP trained surgeon. Previously he has been involved in the WHITE-8 and ACTIVE trials.

Management Experience

Mr Nesbitt is director of a health and wellness clinic and was previously involved in the founding and running of large retail business (2013). Within the medical field he has organised a regional trainees research conference (2017) and has also attended a management and leadership programme for surgeons (2021).

Summary of Publications

Mr Nesbitt has contributed to many journals and publications. He also has contributed chapters to two books: ‘Key Clinical Topics in Orthopaedics’ and ‘Failed Fracture Fixation, Revision Surgery Made Easy.’

Teaching & Training

Mr Nesbitt is a Faculty member for the Manchester Trauma Course and for the TL-Hex training course. He has also been invited to be an ATLS instructor and teaches students at the University of Manchester Medical School and to the regional teaching programme within the Northwestern Surgery rotation.
