Medico-Legal experience

Ms Dring is happy to be instructed by both Claimant and Defendant law firms in personal injury and clinical negligence cases.

Clinical Practice & Experience

With over twenty years of experience as a sonographer, Paula Dring has established a strong clinical foundation working within several leading teaching hospitals in the Northwest. Throughout her career, she has taken on increasingly responsible roles, including serving as Deputy Lead Sonographer and Clinical Tutor/Ultrasound Practice Educator, demonstrating a commitment to both patient care and the development of colleagues. Ms Dring plays a pivotal role in the implementation of crucial screening programs, notably leading the training and introduction of the Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme as the FASP Lead Screening Supervisor. Ms Dring also a Cardiac Champion, spearheading the training and rollout of the ‘3VT view’ technique, and oversaw the implementation of uterine artery Doppler sampling for high-risk pregnancies. Beyond direct clinical work, Ms Dring has consistently championed quality assurance, overseeing and conducting a comprehensive peer review audit program for both general medical and gynaecological ultrasound examinations.

Clinical Interests

Ms Dring has broad range of expertise in ultrasound imaging. She specialises in providing comprehensive ultrasound services across several key areas, including detailed assessments in obstetrics and gynaecology. Beyond women’s health, Ms Dring is highly proficient in general medical ultrasound and has a particular interest and skill in head and neck imaging, including performing and interpreting fine needle aspirations.

Management Experience

Ms Dring management experience gained in her role as Deputy Lead Sonographer at Royal Bolton Hospital, a role where she demonstrated leadership skills particularly during the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. Complementing this, she has expertise in education and training as a Clinical Tutor and Ultrasound Practice Educator, working closely with The University of Cumbria to deliver their MSc Ultrasound programme as an Honorary Lecturer.

Teaching & Training

Ms Dring is a Clinical Tutor and Ultrasound Practice Educator responsible for overseeing and mentoring a range of healthcare professionals, including Trainee Sonographers enrolled in MSc and PGDip programmes, as well as Midwives, Radiologists, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology Registrars.
