Medico-Legal experience

Dr Sharma is currently undergoing her expert witness training. Dr Sharma is registered with APIL, the National Crime Agency (NCA) and the UK Register of Expert Witnesses. She is happy to be instructed by Claimant and Defendant law firms in both personal injury and clinical negligence cases. Dr Sharma is happy to conduct home visits and can produce reports within 6-8 weeks, sooner if required.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Dr Sharma is the Clinical Lead and full-time General Practitioner (GP) at a large, urban practice in Salford that cares for 6,000 patients. Dr Sharma deals with all clinical issues, coordinates care, and advises other GP’s. Dr Sharma also performs minor surgery and runs a Sexual Health Clinic where she provides clinical care for coils and implants.

Previously, Dr Sharma graduated with her MBBS in 1997 when she continued to work as a Junior Doctor in ophthalmology. Following this, Dr Sharma completed her MRCPCH in paediatrics before changing to General Practice in 2005. Dr Sharma has been practicing as a GP since 2008.

Clinical Interests

Dr Sharma’s main clinical interests lie within women’s and sexual health medicine.

Research Interests

Dr Sharma has a strong research interest into chronic opioid prescribing in primary care settings for non-cancer pain.

Management Experience

Dr Sharma is Clinical Governance Lead for her General Practice; she deals with all complaints and has implemented various protocols for the practice. Dr Sharma led her practice through the most recent CQC inspection, which rated the practice as “excellent”.Dr Sharma is the Safeguarding Lead for children and adults, covering 40 GP practices; within this role, Dr Sharma advises GPs on the management of safeguarding issues.

Teaching & Training

Dr Sharma trains medical students, foundation trainees, and registrars.
