Clinical Practice & Experience
Mr Ravi Chekuri serves as a Consultant Adult and Paediatric Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon at The Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust, where he also holds the position of Clinical Governance Lead for Complex Spine Surgery. His entire clinical practice is devoted to spinal surgery, encompassing both emergency and elective care. At the major trauma centre in London, he manages high‑energy spinal injuries, spinal tumours, and spinal infections, while within the Complex Spine Surgery division he routinely performs cervical, thoracic, and lumbar procedures.
Mr Chekuri earned his primary medical degree and completed basic orthopaedic training in India before undertaking higher specialty training in the United Kingdom through the London Deanery and Health Education England. He holds a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Trauma & Orthopaedics and GMC specialist registration, bringing more than 13 years of orthopaedic experience, including five years focused on spine surgery for trauma, degenerative disease, deformity, and tumours. He completed two post‑CCT spine fellowships—first at the Royal London Hospital and subsequently at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore—gaining expertise in adult and paediatric spinal deformity correction, scoliosis surgery, spinal navigation, lumbar lateral access, minimally invasive techniques, and spinal endoscopy.
Clinical Interests
Mr Chekuri’s clinical interests centre on the management of spinal injuries, the correction of adult and paediatric spinal deformities, and the advancement of minimally invasive spinal surgery. He is particularly engaged with techniques that reduce tissue disruption, such as lateral lumbar access and endoscopic approaches, and applies these methods routinely in his practice.
