Spinal trauma refers to traumatic injury affecting the spinal column and, in some cases, the spinal cord. It can involve vertebral fractures, instability and neurological injury, with the nature and severity depending on the mechanism and location of the trauma.
Cases involving traumatic damage to the spine can raise complex medico-legal questions. These may relate to the mechanism of injury, initial assessment, spinal protection, diagnosis, imaging, neurological findings, treatment, surgical intervention and subsequent outcomes.
Our spinal and orthopaedic expert witnesses can provide independent, evidence-based medico-legal opinions and reports. Experts may review medical records, spinal imaging, neurological assessments, operative documentation and rehabilitation records. They can provide an opinion on matters within their specialist area of expertise.
