Since August 2002 he has served as Consultant Spinal Surgeon and Director of Ross Medico‑Legal in Manchester and Cheshire, delivering high‑quality surgical care to adult patients with spinal pathology.

Within this domain he has a particular interest in the biomechanical aspects of spinal stiffness, a topic he explored in his MD dissertation, and in applying this knowledge to optimise patient outcomes.
Management Experience
As Director of Ross Medico‑Legal, Mr Ross oversees the commissioning, preparation and delivery of medico‑legal reports, manages a small multidisciplinary team and coordinates liaison with solicitors, insurers and the courts. He is responsible for business development, quality assurance and the strategic growth of defendant‑focused reporting services. During his time in Salford he was successively Director of Orthopaedic services and subsequently Surgical Director serving at Board Level.
Research Interests
Mr Ross’s research agenda centres on spinal biomechanics, particularly the role of mechanical stiffness in normal and pathological states. He continues to monitor emerging evidence on spinal injury mechanisms.
