Expert Witness – Ms Sally Midgley

Ms Midgley is happy to take Claimant and Defendant medico-legal cases.

Ms Midgley is a lead clinical prescribing pharmacist with over ten years experience managing medicines in the acute care setting. She has expertise across a variety of specialisms including acute medical, surgery, and intensive care medicine. She has held various roles, which have included providing care for transplant patients, critically ill patients, as well as providing care within emergency departments.

Ms Midgleys clinical interests include the management of medicines in the secondary care setting. This includes drug dosing and delivery in hospitals, processes during the transfer of care and prescribing and supply within emergency areas. Other interests are therapeutic drug monitoring and non-medical prescribing.

As a lead pharmacist, Ms Midgley manages a team of pharmacists delivering services to the emergency areas within a large acute teaching hospital. Ms Midgley has also lead on the implementation of critical medicine related initiatives, such as Covid-19 protocols as well as delivery of quality and safety initiatives. She has also undergone leadership training.

Ms Midgley has publications including research into the educational provision for improving the prescribing of junior doctors: A national survey. 2015.

Ms Midgley teaches pharmacy undergraduates at the University of Manchester as well as training junior pharmacists, doctors and nurses within the NHS. Ms Midgley also holds an ILM Level 3 Award in Coaching.
