Following his interest developed in Australia, he went on to establish the now Bastow Clinical Investigative Unit in Paediatric Gastrointestinal Physiology at Nottingham University Hospitals. The Bastow Unit is now completely functional and is well recognised both nationally and internationally. Mr Singh was invited by the Ministry of Health from Kuwait to set up a similar facility there. The Bastow Unit has produced original and pioneering research on pelvic ultrasound (for the diagnosis of megarectum) and gastric emptying studies in children. Mr Singh was granted the degree of DM (Doctor of Medicine) from the Nottingham University in 2008 based on his research and dissertation on surgical management of constipation. Mr Singh was involved in work on WHO check list while at Nottingham in 2010. The second one finished in August 2019 at West Virginia University Hospitals, West Virginia USA for 2 years and 3 months. Mr Singh served as Associate Professor of Pediatric Surgery and Chief of Pediatric Surgery.

Clinical Interests

Mr Singh has clinical interests in Neonatal Surgery, Paediatric Trauma, Paediatric Gastrointestinal conditions, Paediatric General Surgery, and all aspects of Paediatric Surgical care.

Research Interests

Mr Singh has been working on a pilot project on enteral feeding device in collaboration with the engineering department of WVU. The project seeks to design, fabricate, and test an enteral feeding tube system that can deliver nutritional and/or medicinal fluids in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract of patients who have suffered a partial or complete loss of intestinal motility. The design of wich uses complex engineering principles and computational fluid dynamics to be able to make workable prototypes. The successful implementation of this device will save lives of people who cannot afford TPN typically people in the developing world; it will help save livers where prolonged TPN without trophic feeds damages the liver and lower the length of hospital stays for short-term TPN dependent patients.
