Ms Marcia Blackstock

Ms. Marcia Blackstock qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in November 1992 from Coventry University. Prior to this, she completed her Enrolled Nurse Mental Health training in April 1985 at Goodmayes Hospital school of nursing. With over 38 years of experience in various mental health settings, Ms. Blackstock has worked in both ward and community environments. Ms Blackstock’s career has spanned numerous roles, including Community Psychiatric Nurse, Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and Senior Mental Health Practitioner. She has extensive experience in managing complex caseloads, providing individualized care interventions, and conducting mental health and risk assessments across different age groups and specialised areas such as substance misuse and perinatal mental health.

Currently, Ms. Blackstock serves as an Expert Nurse Witness (since June 2024) and a 111 Mental Health Nurse Clinician with Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (since October 2024). In these roles, she provides emergency mental health triage and assessment via the NHS 111 service, offers immediate support to individuals in crisis, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure appropriate care pathways.

Ms. Blackstock is passionate about providing comprehensive mental health care across various settings. Her expertise includes emergency mental health triage and assessment, expert report writing for legal proceedings, and building relationships with external support providers to ensure seamless care continuity. Additionally, she specialises in conducting mental health assessments and interventions for diverse populations, demonstrating a commitment to holistic and inclusive mental health support.

Throughout her career, Ms. Blackstock has held several management positions, including Departmental Manager at Coventry Healthcare NHS Trust from February 1997 to October 2000, Ward Manager from November 1994 to February 1997, and Deputy Ward Manager from November 1994 to October 1995. In these roles, she has been responsible for managing mental health nursing services, co-ordinating client support, implementing quality initiatives, and providing leadership to staff.

Ms Blackstock has been actively involved in teaching and training throughout her career. Ms Blackstock has supervised staff in various roles, Developed care plans and therapeutic interventions and Shared expertise in mental health nursing practices.
