Medico-Legal experience

Mr Yasin has undergone expert witness training and has over ten years of medicolegal experience. Mr Yasin enjoys a very full medico-legal practice advising both claimant and defendant law firms in actions pertaining to both personal injury and clinical negligence. Mr Yasin holds clinics in Bolton and South Manchester but is happy to travel in order to conduct home visits. He can usually turn around reports within 6-8 weeks, sooner if required.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Mr Yasin has been a Consultant in Complex Spine Surgery at the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences based in the Salford Royal Hospital since 2014, which is the regional Major Trauma Centre and one of the largest spinal centres in Europe. He has completed advanced spinal training as well as an internationally recognised fellowship in complex spines, including an International Complex Spine Fellowship in Australia. He is on the SRS Spinal Register as one of the few UK surgeons recognised internationally as a spine specialist and receives patients from throughout the world, both in his full-time NHS and private practice. Mr Yasin specialises in complex spine surgery, including spinal reconstruction procedures, as well as minimally invasive techniques and tumour surgery.

Mr Yasin is the organisation’s Consent Lead with expertise in shared decision-making and patient autonomy in healthcare. He has been the Clinical Governance Lead for spinal surgery and continues to work as a representative on the regional Spinal Network that supports governance and policies both in the NHS and private sector.

Mr Yasin has experience in value-based healthcare delivery models, following training at the Harvard Business School, as well as an MBA. Mr Yasin is a registered chartered manager with CMI and has a Master’s in Leadership and Management. He is the Chair of Division for Tertiary Medicine and Critical Care.

Mr Yasin is a Trustee of Stop Hate UK which is a national charity tackling hate crimes. He is also a Trustee for Manchester High School for Girls.

Clinical Interests

Mr Yasin specialises in spine trauma, complex soft tissue neck injuries, spinal cord injury, intervertebral disc and spinal nerve injuries, as well as cumulative occupational injuries.

Summary of Publications

Mr Yasin has published widely in peer-reviewed journals on patient outcomes and patient safety in spinal surgery. He is regularly invited to lecture at national and international conferences. Mr Yasin is the only Spinal Surgeon in the UK with outcome measures available to the public, and his work on spinal surgical outcomes has been published and has been quoted in national media including research on complications and outcomes in spinal surgery.

Teaching & Training

Mr Yasin is an Honorary Lecturer at both Salford University and Manchester University where he is an Academic Advisor. He is responsible for the training and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students and allied health professionals.
