Dr Terence McLoughlin, Consultant in Emergency Medicine and expert witness with McCollum Consultants, will be speaking at the upcoming Hospital front door: Uniting Emergency Medicine and Acute Medicine hosted by the Royal Society of Medicine on Friday 12th June 2026.

Dr McLoughlin will open the conference with the welcome and introduction in his role as President of the Emergency Medicine Section at the Royal Society of Medicine.

The event brings together leading figures from emergency medicine, acute medicine and NHS operational leadership to explore how both specialties can work more effectively together to improve patient flow, safety and front-door acute care delivery across the NHS.

As Consultant in Emergency Medicine at University Hospitals of Liverpool Group NHS Trust, Dr McLoughlin has extensive experience in acute and emergency care, trauma, musculoskeletal injuries and clinical leadership. Alongside his clinical work, he maintains an active medico-legal practice, acting for both Claimant and Defendant firms in personal injury and clinical negligence matters.

Dr McLoughlin is also Deputy Director of Research for Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust, Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University, and President Elect of the Royal Society of Medicine Emergency Medicine Section.

The conference will examine key issues affecting emergency and acute medicine interfaces, including triage, escalation, frailty pathways, staffing models, patient flow and system resilience, with contributions from senior national clinical leaders and NHS operational experts.
