Overview

Medico-Legal experience

Dr Kishore has been an expert witness in stroke medicine for a number of years. He is registered with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), and the UK Register of Expert Witnesses. He enjoys a full medico-legal practice instructed both Claimant and Defendant law firms in personal injury and clinical negligence actions. Dr Kishore holds weekly medico-legal clinics in Manchester but is happy to travel in order to conduct home and prison visits. His Claimant/Defendant ratio split is approximately 75/25 and he can usually turnaround reports within 6-8 weeks, sooner if required.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Dr Kishore is a Consultant Stroke Physician at the Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (SRFT). He is involved in the delivery of high quality hyperacute stroke care including thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy. He provides acute stroke inpatient care and runs a Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) Clinic. He also provides neurocritical care advice to stroke patients, in-reach cover to the Stroke Rehabilitation Team, and has set up a regional Embolic Stroke of Unknown Source Clinic at SRFT.

Clinical Interests

Dr Kishore has an interest in the diagnosis and management of acute cerebrovascular conditions such as acute ischaemic stroke, acute intracerebral haemorrhage, carotid & vertebral artery dissections, and transient ischaemic attacks (TIA). He is also interested in secondary prevention, understanding the aetiopathogenesis of stroke, and the evaluation of embolic strokes of unknown source.

Research Interests

Dr Kishore has several areas of research interest in the field of stroke medicine, including atrial fibrillation (AF) and pneumonia. He has several related publications in high-indexed peer-reviewed journals in stroke and general medicine, and has presented at national and international conferences. He has participated in international stroke trials and has taken a lead on several systematic reviews and meta-analyses related to acute stroke management and secondary prevention. He has developed antibiotic guidance on pneumonia-complicating stroke and is also leading on improving atrial fibrillation (AF) detection after stroke across the region through a quality improvement project. He has been involved in developing local and national guidelines and his publication on AF detection has been referenced in the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) Stroke Guidelines (2016).

Teaching & Training

Dr Kishore is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of Manchester. He supervised undergraduate students and postgraduate doctors in clinical and academic work. He has also supervised MSc and PhD students. He is the chair of the regional stroke study at the Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and he is frequently invited to lecture both nationally and internationally on stroke medicine. He is presently the Training Programme Director in Stroke medicine for the North West.

Prizes and Awards

Dr Kishore has been awarded several Clinical Excellence Awards at the Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (2016 and 2018). He has also won several small grants from the University of Manchester as well as industry sponsored grants for projects related to improving atrial fibrillation (AF) detection.
