Clinical Practice & Experience
Dr Andrew Baxter has been a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust since 2021, delivering high-quality care within one of the UK’s largest tertiary university teaching centres. His clinical focus is on pancreatic disease and hepatobiliary medicine, a subspecialty portfolio built on a rigorous two-year fellowship in advanced endoscopy. As an independent practitioner of complex therapeutic endoscopy, he maintains a high-volume practice in ERCP and performs both diagnostic and therapeutic Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) alongside luminal stenting with consistently excellent technical success and safety outcomes. In the outpatient setting, Dr Baxter co-leads the multidisciplinary team clinics for Chronic Pancreatitis and cystic fibrosis-related liver and gastrointestinal disease, serving as a regional referral hub for these intricate conditions. He also provides 24/7 emergency gastroenterology services, adeptly managing acute upper gastrointestinal haemorrhage and performing urgent therapeutic endoscopy. Complementing his subspecialist work, Dr Baxter sustains a robust general gastroenterology workload, overseeing inpatient luminal disorders and a wide array of outpatient GI conditions. This blend of advanced procedural expertise, multidisciplinary leadership, and comprehensive general practice makes Dr Baxter a pivotal asset to the Trust’s digestive health service.
