Clinical Practice & Experience
Dr Eades qualified from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2009 and undertook postgraduate training in general (internal) medicine in London, becoming a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2013. He subsequently completed a Master of Science in Infectious Diseases and HIV at University College London, also in 2013.
He entered higher specialist training in infectious diseases and medical microbiology, including HIV medicine, and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (Medical Microbiology, by examination) in 2017. He achieved dual specialist accreditation in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology with the General Medical Council in August 2023. He is fully trained in all clinical and laboratory aspects of infectious diseases and medical microbiology, including hospital-acquired infections, critical care and complex orthopaedic infections.
Dr Eades gained advanced sub-specialty experience in medical mycology during a dedicated research fellowship split between the National Aspergillosis Centre and The University of Manchester. His clinical work was combined with a substantive programme of original research, forming the basis of his PhD thesis, The Phenomenology of Antimicrobial Use in Haemato-oncology, for which he is a candidate at the University of Manchester. During this period, he also established a formal liaison service between the infectious diseases department and the haemato-oncology unit at Manchester Royal Infirmary.
Between October 2023 and August 2024, Dr Eades worked as a Consultant in Infectious Diseases, HIV Medicine, and Medical Mycology at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, before relocating to London. He is currently a Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Medical Mycology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. His clinical practice includes both inpatient and outpatient management, integrating laboratory and bedside medicine, with a focus on sepsis, complex fungal infections, and infections in patients receiving treatment for haematological malignancies.
Clinical Interests
Dr Eades has specialist expertise in infectious diseases, medical mycology, and HIV medicine. He has a particular interest in the diagnosis and management of infections in immunocompromised patients, including those undergoing stem cell transplantation, and in the treatment of complex and invasive fungal infections.
