Aortic dissection is a serious condition in which a tear develops in the inner layer of the aorta. Blood can then flow between the layers of the aortic wall, causing them to separate. The condition can affect different sections of the aorta.
Cases involving aortic dissection can raise complex medico-legal questions. These may relate to recognition, diagnosis, imaging, clinical decision-making, surgical intervention, causation and subsequent outcomes.
Our vascular and cardiothoracic expert witnesses can provide independent, evidence-based medico-legal opinions and reports. Experts may review medical records, imaging and operative documentation. They can provide an opinion on relevant matters within their specialist area of expertise.
