Orthopaedic trauma involves traumatic injuries affecting bones, joints and other parts of the musculoskeletal system. Injuries may include fractures and complex limb injuries following falls, road traffic accidents or other incidents. Patients may require surgical treatment and rehabilitation.
Cases involving musculoskeletal injuries can raise complex medico-legal questions. These may relate to the mechanism of injury, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. Experts may also consider mobility, functional impairment, further surgery and long-term outcomes. NICE recognises that rehabilitation needs can change as injuries heal.
Our orthopaedic trauma expert witnesses can provide independent, evidence-based medico-legal opinions and reports. Experts may review medical records, imaging, operative documentation and rehabilitation records. They can also assess the nature and consequences of the injuries.
